Top Holiday ideas for better sales!

by Karolina Dryja on 21st December 2011

This pre-Christmas time I have been browsing through the well-known eshops to find the best Christmas offers, options and designs. The statistics that were appearing during this time were booming, take for instance this one: Holiday Spending Approaches $20 Billion for First 34 Days of the November-December Shopping Season. Isn’t it worth investing in? Waking up the Christmas spirit in your clients was crucial to share this year’s success of ecommerce market. To help you next year, a few pieces of advice!

1. The mistletoe’s magic

The most obvious way to charm clients is to create a magical spot where they can feel the warm, Christmas atmosphere, a place full of holiday symbols and colors. I don’t mean here to change the whole design of your ecommerce website, but a few elements here and there would definitely do their job.

Asda.co.uk for example decided to frame their slider with a Christmas tree and Santa’s picture. This here, doesn’t cause nystagmus, it’s just a nice, inviting element. It probably didn’t cost asda.co.uk a lot of money nor a lot of effort.

You can make it even simpler; just decorate the logo of your webshop. It should be the most visible element at your website anyway, so why not surprise the observant shopper with a little treat!

 2. Extra emphasis

It’s a time of the year that deserves its own tab! That’s why you should choose products that you feel will be the Christmas specials and arrange them into an offer that targets gifts’ shoppers.

The additional red color makes it even more vivid and promises the Christmas shoppers that they’ll find all they need in this busy time of the year.

3. Help needed

For some, Christmas is a happy time, full of warm feelings and positive fuss. However, there’re also those for whom Christmas and especially the time before it, is a nightmare. As a perfect eshop owner, one must remember to satisfy and help those clients as well.

This is how marksandspencer.com is helping. A set of simple questions lets you filter their products in order to buy the perfect gift for even the most demanding relative or a friend.

However, in the case of Christmas help, boots.com is my personal favorite. Starting with gift ideas, inspiration section to Christmas shopping section, you can browse, choose and change your mind, as much as you want. And at the end you’ll surely get the perfect gift!

Don’t trust the eshops crew in the matter of presents?

There you go! Boots.com thought of that too, you can share and read the opinions of other shoppers.

Worried that your present won’t be there on time? If you aren’t, then your clients definitely are! Asda.co.uk found a solution for that problem by simply placing detailed information about the delivery dates, so each client exactly knows when to place an order to sleep tight until Christmas.

4. How will you make your customers happy this Christmas?

That’s right, for all their spending, loyalty they deserve a present! The treat could be a discount or a special type of a product, limited only to Christmas time.
Let’s see, how others solved that issue:

A bit more of an effort and here we have it, mothercare.com lets you chose and customize the gift. Bravo for mothercare.com, the perfect idea to please your clients!
