These days there’s a huge impact on new ways of advertising. We are facing the still rising social media hype, gamification as marketing tool and many more new ideas to leverage sales. Although, I strongly believe that you should consider all the innovations in your marketing strategy, don’t let yourself forget that there’re other ways of becoming visible.
If you think about it closely, there’re many people who prefer to stay out of social networks or just don’t spend so much time there. Let’s follow that with an example, 79% of American adults use the Internet in general but only 47%of them use at least one social media site. Here you can see that certain age groups visit social networks less often than the other. Since your targeted age group doesn’t have to be the one using social media it’s worth considering different channels, as well.
To make sure that you’ve approached all your potential customers with your eshop, you should create a marketing plan that is a combination of different tools.
Backlinks
There are some places where you can leave a backlink to your webshop. Say, business directory or some of your branch pages. If you leave your link at a place visited by huge amount of Internet users, you might count on a bigger traffic! For some of it, you’ll have to pay but sometimes you can make a deal with other website’s owner.
Take an example from ecommerce’s big fish amazon.com. The company is placed 9th in the ranking of pages with the most back-links influence. And the higher the Link Influence Score the more search engines trust a website.
The most popular way of advertising your e-shop on the Internet is probably GoogleAds. Check which browsers are most popular with your present and potential customers and invest in a sponsored advertisement.
To get the most of it you may consider hiring an ad network company.
Affiliates
This intriguing phenomenon is even more of collaboration than the previously mentioned. An affiliate is your partner who according to an agreement sort of provides traffic to your website. This happens with the use of a link that is inserted to your affiliate’s website and redirects the user to your eshop. Thanks to the link having information about the affiliate, you can easily find out which of your affiliates works best for you.
Postal services
Of course I don’t mean the offline postal services – that would take ages to reach anyone! But if you offer newsletter then you might reach also to those that spend their time on the Internet mainly to check their mail. A well-written and relevant mail still can do you wonders. Check the previous post to learn about e-mail marketing.
Try to adjust your e-mails according to the preferences of each of your customers, so that they will feel appreciated. Consequently they will be more willing to visit your online shop and maybe buy something. Check this chart to see when your emails will be most visible.
TV
People still love TV and watch it passionately. Did you know that about 77% of Americans use social media to share their loved TV shows? That brings us to a conclusion that it’s still great to appear on TV, as TV shows have ads breaks.
There are many webshops ads on TV, here are some interesting examples from Germany and the Netherlands: Zalando Hippie HQ High Quality TV Spot Werbung Schrei , Commercial wehkamp.nl (Nintendo).
