The first day of the e-nnovation 2011 conference in Poznan has ended just a few hours ago. Did it meet the expectations of the participants? Was there anything new that any person involved in the e-commerce world would not know? Were the presented subjects really “e-nnovative”? Let me answer these questions below.
What’s e-nnovation 2011?
For those who don’t know, e-nnovation 2011 is a two-day conference held in Poznan on the 10th and 11th of October 2011, where the newest trends, changes and practices of the e-commerce market are presented. It is divided into three conceptual parts:
- experience – this part is mostly about upcoming e-commerce trends, the dynamic changes that take place in Eastern and Central Europe and innovative ideas.
- enthusiasm – it is about “ruling the world” by means of innovative ideas and newest technologies and about becoming successful in a world full of competitors.
- cooperation – apart from presentations this part includes discussion panels. It is mainly about best practices regarding cooperation with customers, users, co-workers, investors, etc – generally with people who we meet while being a part of the e-commerce world.
First and “last” impression
It is quite unusual that the first impression is the same as the last impression (the impression that you have when leaving a certain place). However, in this case they were. What is more – they were genuinely positive. From the moment I have entered the first presentation till leaving the last one everything was organized pretty well (conference rooms, food, audio, video etc). The presentations were translated into a few languages. What is more, the presenters were not the people taken “from the street”, but real experts in the area of e-commerce. In the majority of cases they were also born speakers.
Was this really “e-nnovative”?
It is undoubtedly hard to tell people who are engaged deeply in the world of e-commerce something that they would not know in this area. Nevertheless, I am utterly convinced that at least some part of today’s speakers managed to do so.
Starting with the enthusiastic Tara Hunt who talked about the 10 most common mistakes committed by entrepreneurs, through the experienced Anthony Hilton who shared his insights and forecasts of the e-commerce world, ending with Angel Medinilla who has presented a broad set of Agile principals that might be truly helpful when setting up a startup.
Generally speaking, today’s presentations contained really a lot of different subjects, such as the role of society in curving the shape of the e-commerce market, social media, the role of mobile apps, Agile, lean startups and many, many more. It is not hard to see that all of the above have one thing in common – they are all connected with the most up-to-date and innovative aspects of the e-commerce world. Aspects that, if used appropriately, can make your business more successful.
